Napster, the popular premium music streaming service, will now provide musical entertainment in select Audi models, starting in Autumn 2014. With direct wireless access to a catalogue of more than 32 million songs, Napster and Audi connect will bring drivers even more comfort while on the road.

“Connectivity has become more and more important in daily life. People want to have their favourite music available everywhere at any time. The partnership with Audi connect is another important step in providing premium customers with even more comfort,” says Patric Niederländer, vice president of Business Development Europe, Rhapsody International. “This innovative integration is another example of the variety of Napster supported devices and guarantees music fun on the move.”

Whether it is a daily commute, short stop at the market or a road trip – drivers of the 2015 Audi A6, A7, and Audi TT models can easily access the whole Napster catalogue for entertainment anywhere they travel. Via the head unit users can choose from more than 32 million songs, thousands of audio books, personalized playlists and many more features and play them through the car’s speaker system.

The MMI Navigation Plus and the Audi connect function are required in order to use new integration. The connection to the service is established via a SIM card in the infotainment system and runs using the Wlan in the car. After selecting the personal myAudi account, Napster is controlled via the “MMI connect” app in the “MEDIA” tab (“Medien” in Audi TT).

The Napster app and Audi’s “MMI connect” app must be downloaded onto a smartphone in order to use the streaming integration. The apps are available for iOS and Android devices. Further expansion of the Napster integration is planned for additional Audi models in 2015.
