oneM2M welcomes GlobalPlatform and TSDSI as their newest Partners

oneM2M, has welcomed the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) and GlobalPlatform as its two newest Partners. oneM2M is now a partnership between eight standards development organisations: ARIB (Japan), ATIS (America), CCSA (China), ETSI (Europe), TIA (America), TSDSI (India), TTA (Korea), and TTC (Japan), whose members participate in developing oneM2M specifications, and six ICT industry associations: BBF (Broadband Forum), Continua, GlobalPlatform, HGI (Home Gateway Initiative), the New Generation M2M Consortium – Japan, and OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) who directly contribute to oneM2M.

The significant inclusion of TSDSI and its members into the oneM2M standards development process helps extend the reach of the partnership into the important Indian market and enable globally interoperable solutions for the Internet of Things.

Dr. Asok Chatterjee, director general, TSDSI said “Joining one M2M as a full Partner enables TSDSI to bring the strong voice of India’s technical abilities and market potential to the full range of both standards development and management activities within the global oneM2M community.”

GlobalPlatform’s participation will help ensure that oneM2M will satisfy the future security demands of the Internet of Things. “We’re happy to formalise our relationship with oneM2M,” comments Kevin Gillick, executive director of GlobalPlatform. “oneM2M documents already reference GlobalPlatform Card and Device Specifications and working more closely will benefit the evolution of specifications within both organisations. This will in turn standardise the development, deployment and management of M2M technology and applications, saving time and money.”

Dr. Fran O’Brien (Cisco – TIA member), oneM2M steering committee chair said “The inclusion of TSDSI as a oneM2M Partner further expands the global acceptance of oneM2M specifications. We look forward to working with our colleagues in TSDSI, including members providing technology expertise and leadership within India, to further progress the goals and objectives of oneM2M.”

Dr. Omar Elloumi (Alcatel Lucent – ATIS member), oneM2M technical plenary chair said “GlobalPlatform’s specifications are an important framework to perform secure transactions across the Internet of Things. oneM2M has considered security from the outset, not as an afterthought. We are delighted to have GlobalPlatform on board, together we will deliver security for the Internet of Things.”

With over 200 companies contributing to its work as members of the Partner SDOs, oneM2M is building on the February announcement of the publication of oneM2M Release 1 specifications to create truly interoperable and scalable frameworks that enable the Internet of Things to grow and thrive.

oneM2M actively encourages companies, industry associations, and forums with specific application requirements to participate in oneM2M, in order to ensure that the solutions developed support their specific needs.
