Nettalliansen, an alliance consisting of 26 Norwegian energy distribution companies, entered in July into contract for the delivery of a new automated electricity metering solution. The contract was signed between Nettalliansen and Embriq as the prime contractor. The selected solution is based on Aidon technology.
Nettalliansen’s member companies, located in ten counties throughout Norway, will use one central reading system for collecting the metering data. This system, as well as the smart meters and the RF-based communication solution which together form the Aidon part of the solution, will be integrated with Embriq’s central operating platform. The contract covers 165,000 metering points.
We evaluated alternative subcontractors and chose Aidon which we regard as the most flexible and future-oriented solution for the Norwegian market. We believe that flexibility with regards to the current and future smart grid functionality is a critical success factor, and we experience Aidon as the leading provider in this field, says Espen Kåsin, vice president, Software at Embriq.
Thor-Erik Næss, managing director of Aidon in Norway sees strong potential in delivering high added value to the members of Nettalliansen group.
The requirement for a strong and future-oriented AMM technology suits us well, and it also fits with our future ambitions to provide our customers with an advanced smart grid solution that gives them full value for the investment during its life time.
